Faux-victimhood is a covert form of bullying. It’s fundamentally no different than intimidation. The con works like this:

“Take my side and demonstrate that you’re a good person.”

This places the burden upon their target to prove their empathy by virtue signaling and/ or white-knighting on behalf of the fake-victim.
