There is a great deal of subjectivity in the world today, exacerbated by unmitigated hyper mediation. Amidst the plethora of beliefs available to the critical consumer of information, there is ever-increasing attention to the sheer fakeness of news media itself. It's no wonder why: in 2020, the conspiracy theorists had many of their observations validated. Our world leaders openly conspired to steal our wealth and brainwash our friends and family into complying with nonsensical edicts to make us suggestible and helpless. They invent things like pandemics and global warming to control us in the way priests can use the existence of "sin" to regulate human behavior. The least we can do is mock them relentlessly, question and impugn their motives, all while memetically deconstructing their diabolical plan.  The fake news

Guy, the protagonist, is an NPC that encounters a female PC in the film, and his attraction to her sparks something in him. He becomes self-aware. This is very problematic for the control freak CEO that owns Free City. It's in his personal financial interest for Free City to not have that kind of spontaneous disruption to the status quo.  Like Truman Burbank of the Truman show or Neo in The Matrix, Guy is a problem to the controllers once he awakens. These movies often have significance inherent in their titles or the characters' names.

  I haven't "believed" a fake news story since....................................................... I have not been duped by the media since, well, I literally don't remember. What I do recall is being cautious about stating my conclusions right away. The prevailing wisdom in the chats was "don't automatically call it a hoax," and to "think about the victims and their families." On 3/11/22, we celebrated the second hoax-a-versery of the pandemic’s official declaration date. The “two weeks to flatten the curve” turned into two years, with President Putin having finished the job, his “invasion” into Ukraine has seemingly put an end to all the “covid is now AIDs” talk.  Putin cured Covid and how before that, Covid cured Radical Islamic Terror. Each succeeding global threat is templated off the previous ones. For example, Covid made everyone a potential terrorist in need of contact tracing, they just switched the Radical Islamic Terrorist Mind Virus for a flu variant.
